Steve Richman Bio

A nationally recognized speaker, motivator, consultant, and coach, Steve has spoken to over 350,000 professionals at over 750 lending institutions across the US. He has taught accredited continuing education classes for real estate professionals, served as adjunct faculty at the Sellinger Business School and Towson University, spoke as a guest lecturer at the Business School at Columbia University, and presented on Capital Hill.

A Master Certified Sales Negotiation Trainer and Certified Trainer in DiSC Behavioral Profiling, Steve is a highly accredited expert in the mortgage industry. Having held many professional roles in the mortgage industry including loan officer, account executive, and manager of mortgage operations, Steve brings over 20 years of experience along with valuable insight.

Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Steve graduated Magna Cum Laude at the University of Maryland and later attended George Washington Law School, where he earned his JD. He has appeared as a guest speaker on numerous podcasts, webcasts, and radio shows and has authored several articles for esteemed publications, such as Scotsman Guide and National Mortgage News. In 2019, Steve was named Most Connected Mortgage Professional. Steve currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife and two children.

Russell R. Evans, Ph.D. Bio

Dr. Evans recently joined the Thorberg Collectorate, where he serves as Partner and Chief Economist. He is also President of the collectorate’s Regional Economic Advisers division. Thorberg Collectorate is an opportunistic private equity firm specializing in bringing alternative investments to a growing Oklahoma investor base.

Dr. Evans also holds a position as a professor of economics at Oklahoma City University, having served previously as interim dean of the Meinders School of Business. Dr. Evans is highly regarded as an economic communicator making complex economic theories accessible to engaged audiences. The ability to conduct and communicate technical analysis has provided opportunities to consult with a broad cross-section of industries such as oil and gas, gaming, banking, municipal government, manufacturing, and many more. The work of Dr. Evans and his staff are regularly recognized in local, regional, and national media markets. He is a member of the American Economic Association and the National Association for Business Economics.

Dr. Evans lives and works with his wife and five children in Oklahoma City. When not in the office, he enjoys golf, fly fishing, and actively serving in his church and community.

Steven Plaisance Bio

As Gateway First Bank’s President of Mortgage Banking, Steven Plaisance uses his extensive experience and leadership to align all things mortgage, including retail, correspondent, operations, secondary, and servicing, under one umbrella. He is also a key part of the Executive leadership team at Gateway and will help define and set the course for bank activities across all spectrums.

Prior to joining Gateway, Steven worked at Arvest Bank. He had been there since 1989, when he started as a teller and worked in various roles, including processing, secondary, operations, and most recently, as President and CEO of Arvest Bank’s mortgage banking division for the past six years. He was President and COO for three years prior to taking on the CEO role as well.

Steven currently serves and previously served on a number of advisory boards for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. He is also very active in leadership roles with the Mortgage Bankers Association. Steven will serve as the 2021-22 Chairman of the MBA’s Mortgage Action Alliance, its grassroots lobbying effort. Steven graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from the University of Arkansas and has attended Executive Management programming at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business.

Michael Fratantoni is MBA's Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Research and Industry Technology. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing MBA's industry surveys and benchmarking studies, economic and mortgage originations forecasts, industry technology efforts, and policy development research for both single-family and commercial/multifamily markets. Additionally, Fratantoni is a member of the Board of Directors of MISMO and the membership committee ofMERS.

Prior to joining MBA, Fratantoni worked in risk management and senior economist roles at Washington Mutual and Fannie Mae. He received a Ph.D. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in economics from The College of William and Mary, and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Washington, and Johns Hopkins, George Washington, and Georgetown Universities.

Jim pitched two seasons for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. reaching speeds up to 102mph; he chose to retire to raise his children. Since 2000, Jim has been a highly sought-after motivational speaker, traveling the world inspiring audiences to follow their dreams and
never give up.

In his latest book, Dream Makers: Surround Yourself with the Best to Be Your Best, Jim shares more of his incredible life story including the people who helped make him the success he is today: his Dream Makers.

Jim has been honored to receive a Lifetime Achievement award from the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, a CAMIE award for Character and Morality in Entertainment for The Rookie, has been involved with BCFS, Arms of Hope, Texas Youth Commission and other philanthropic efforts. He launched his own Foundation in 2015, giving back to underserved communities and children. Jim and his wife, Shawna, have raised five children and live near San Antonio.
